Practical guide
Prepare stems for a mixing session
Export aligned audio, preserve the originals and supply a clear reference before starting a Sunset stem mix.
Choose a common start
Export every stem from the same timeline start so the files line up when imported. Include the tail of reverbs and delays when those are part of the intended sound. Keep track names clear enough that another person can identify each role.
Record decisions
Note sample rate, bit depth and whether each stem already includes processing. Supply the reference as a comparison target and describe the aspects you want to compare. Keep the source session and an untouched set of exports.
- Check that all stems share the intended start.
- Listen for clipped or missing audio.
- Confirm whether effects are printed or supplied separately.
Check the result
After import, listen through a transition and the busiest section before judging the balance. The Mac app provides the native workflow and full export; the browser audition is a shorter local preview.
