MIXING · STEMS TO STEREO

Build the mix first.

Bring stems from any DAW. Sunset detects their musical roles, creates a starting balance, resolves collisions and gives you the controls to finish a stereo mix. The workflow stops before mastering until you explicitly continue.

What goes in

A folder of aligned audio stems. Name them clearly—kick, bass, vocal, synth, drums and similar names help automatic role detection. You can override every detected role before rendering.

THE WORKFLOW

From session parts to a pre-master bounce.

Automatic choices give you a fast starting point. Manual controls remain available where the record needs taste, correction or deliberate routing.

01 · LOAD

Import stems

Load the session parts together. Sunset aligns the files, reads their levels and infers one of 13 musical roles from each filename.

02 · BALANCE

Gain-stage by role

Role-aware peak targets build a usable starting balance. Adjust gain, pan, mute, solo and role assignments per stem.

03 · SEPARATE

Resolve collisions

Corrective EQ, masking detection and role-aware sidechain behavior make space between kick, bass, vocal and supporting parts.

04 · SHAPE

Finish the console

Use channel strips, bus processing, inserts, sends, width and routing controls to shape the mix beyond the automatic pass.

05 · CHECK

Inspect the mix

See treatments and analysis instead of a mystery render. A/B changes and confirm the balance before the final bounce.

06 · HANDOFF

Export or continue

Export a stereo mix with mastering unapplied, or choose Send to Mastering to begin the separate release workflow.

MIX CONSOLE

The controls needed to finish the balance.

Per-stem controlRole override, gain trim, constant-power pan, mute, solo, channel-strip stages and insert slots.
Automatic treatmentRole-specific corrective EQ, dynamics, warmth, width and placement with a readable treatment summary.
Masking & sidechainCross-stem masking analysis, automatic carve suggestions, kick-to-bass ducking and vocal priority behavior.
Role busesDrum, instrument and vocal buses with glue compression, parallel blend, imaging and selectable duck sources.
Sends & effectsBus and stem processing layers for deliberate space, tone and movement while the core guided mix remains intact.
Session safetyPre-master headroom guard, project save/restore and a mix-only render that does not silently apply mastering stages.
THE BOUNDARY MATTERS

Mixing ends before mastering begins.

Export Mix creates the stereo balance without limiter, loudness target or release dither. Send to Mastering hands that finished mix to a new workspace, where reference tone, platform loudness and true-peak delivery become the job.
